Knit in the round on double-points, in cheapo acrylic. My own design and idea and plan...which could explain why it doesn't fit quite right. Also, the hot-pink hurt my eyes. Not really. But it should have.

[ mood | excited ]

I am getting really pumped!! I have a group of friends from my ballet classes coming over on Monday evening to be fitted in outfits (lots of corsets and a few other outfits) I have made because we are doing photo shoots in the coming weeks for setting up my website!! This is gonna be so much fun, first I get to dress beautiful girls in pretty things I made, then we get to run around downtown and have our pictures taken by a professional photographer!! Then I get to show off my work to all you wonderful people!! It is amazing how many outfits I have that I have made, I never really thought about it, but I have been pulling them out of my closets and putting them in my daughter's closet (she just keeps toys in it at the bottom, her clothes are in a different room) for the girls to be able to go through and pick what they want. So be expecting some fun "dancers in corsets and costumes" pictures in the not too distant future!! (If you have any suggestions for fun poses or anything I will be happy to pass them on to the photographer)

Show-off/critique [20 Sep 2004|04:15pm]

A few years ago I did weaving. So, lest anyone think that I only do beading, here are some of my woven pieces!
(Warning: picture-heavy post, although everything should be behind a cut and sized to manageability.)

And here are some vessels I made (not with weaving, obviously!).

My latest creation [18 Sep 2004|11:39am]

Since I haven't posted since I have been stamped I thought I would share my latest work. I was recently commissioned by a customer to make a gothic lolita-esque dress to resemble a dress worn by singer Mika Nakashima in her "Hi no Tori" video. It's one of the most elaborate egl/jpop/jrock type dresses I have made. Here's some pics (lots more pics behind the cut).

Ethically made beads [09 Sep 2004|03:54pm]

DISCLAIMER: This is a post about BEADING, which is my main craft. I think it's important to get the info out, so I'm posting it here as well, even though I know that most people here do not bead. BUT, many of the same things are true for how fabric is made, as well as thread and yarn and such, so I still think it's important to get the word on this out. If you think this post is inappropriate, please let me know and I'll remove it. Thanks for your understanding :)

Dear beaders,

You've probably all heard of how most of the clothes and many of the household items we use in the Western world come from sweatshops in China, India, South America, and other countries.

Well, unfortunately, the same is also true for beads. While many of the lovely beads we use today come from countries or manufacturers that have good working conditions and treat their workers fairly, many, many other beads are made under hazardous working conditions, and their makers do not receive a living wage.

And, if you have any questions, feel free to post them here, or visit ethicalcrafters. The community has alot of publically available information on working conditions in many countries, as well as some stores that sell all or mostly ethically made beads.

I apologize in advance for the cross-posting, but, again, I really want to get the word out there!

Thanks for your time.

Show off! [20 Jul 2004|01:48pm]

It SHOULD be "critique," because I'm bad at sewing, but I'm just so proud whenever I sew something and it turns out looking somewhat like what I intended!

Anyway, the skirt and top are made entirely out of bandanas, whole or cut, and machine-sewn. The shirt needs ironing, I know. The dress is the first thing I've made from an actual pattern, ever, and it fits and hasn't yet fallen apart. So yay.

Anyway, here goes:

[ mood | crappy ]

I have this pink plastic belt.. It was ruining with blue wet paper... there are blue staining on the belt.. so I decided to doing black spray painting.. make it look like strips...I used cheap tape...to cover pink parts... left out for black painting... now it's sticky... feel funny to wear it.. Anyone know how to take sticky parts off without ruined black painting? Thanks!
